Melburnians trash anti-terrorism measure

While some Melburnians have taken to beautifying the city’s latest safety measure, others are trashing the already-drab addition to the streets. Over the past two months, more than 200 bollards have been installed in Melbourne in an effort to prevent vehicle-based attacks. (Photo: Kelsey Rettino)

Melbourne Cyclocross

In May 2015, I decided to document the relatively new sport of cyclocross. I tracked my brother, Scott, through the process of preparing for one his races, and the race itself. I took over 500 photos throughout this process, and narrowed it down to these 12.

Whitley College

Whitley College is one of the 12 residential colleges of The University of Melbourne. It is home to 132 students studying at several different universities across Melbourne.

Whitley has a unique partnership with the Baptist Union of Victoria, but this partnership will see Whitley close its doors as a residential college at the end of 2017. From 2018 onwards, Whitley will operate solely as a theological school.

This photo documentary focuses on Kate Douglas, a Whitley ‘fresher’ who hails from Adelaide. Through documenting Kate’s experience, I aim to capture the vibrancy of the day-to-day life of a Whitley resident.

With the college’s closure imminent, I hope this documentary communicates that Whitley College isn’t simply a roof over its residents’ heads, but a community they call home.
